Jensen Residence
The challenge for this project was to create a setting and new home that respects a non-specific memory of visiting your grandmother’s farm, yet integrates the pragmatic needs of a contemporary house. Loosely based on a farm vernacular, the home is sited to take full advantage of the views of Puget Sound with a layout oriented towards the winter and summer solstices. The house has a rigorous layout of iconic double hung windows which are deliberately interrupted by the necessity of the planning, and the most modest programmatic elements are celebrated in immodest materials.
