Miner’s Refuge

Firm:
Johnston Architects

At the foot of the Goat Wall, 500 feet below several mining explorations from the early 20th century lies a vacation retreat referred to as the Miners Refuge. The entry of the building evokes historic forms, piercing the folded plane of roof and wall that shelter the remainder of the house. The long slope of the main volume runs parallel to the topography and allows views, light and a close connection to the ground from all rooms.
