Fort Ward Bunker House

Firm:
Eggleston Farkas Architects

Our clients came to us with a problem. They were hoping to build a new house with a clean modern design. Their aspirations included sensitivity to the environment, an open plan, and plenty of storage. Of equal importance was the desire that the house to be fun for their two rambunctious children. They found a piece of property they liked and that seemed to be a good value. However, they were very concerned about the cost of removing an abandoned military bunker built in 1904 - the fire control station for Fort Ward's gunneries defending Puget Sound.
